One of the first things is that this is a diamond shape patterned chain, which you can see here, how it's not like your traditional ladder style chains that are straight across. Andy: Hello everyone, Andy is here with etrailer.com and today we're going to take a look at the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains, on our 2021 Toyota Tacoma. This chain is a ladder pattern style, as you can see the chains go over the tires in this direction here, that is going to help with starting, stopping and traction in deeper snow and add a little bit extra traction when it comes to driving on ice. They are a low carbon steel construction that is going to be durable and strong. As you can see, it is a rounded twisted link and what that is going to do is provide a little bit more comfort and drivability and there is a little bit smoother ride compared to something that might be a little bit more aggressive. In our bag here, with our kit, it does come in a canvas bag and we do have two chains, one for each side.One thing that's nice about this is its easy to store whether it's in the back of your cab or in the bed of your truck also when it comes to installing this, I recommend maybe picking up some gloves that you leave either in the bag or even a mat or a tarp that way when you're kneeling or laying down to install the links on the backside you're not getting your clothes all wet or snowy. So with our Tacoma here, we do have a lot of room in our wheel weld that is going to make it all easy to get on the backside of that tire to get everything installed, but let's go ahead and take a look at that now. more

But if you're looking for something for an emergency or for something to keep in your truck to follow state laws, this will work pretty well.Now this does have an interesting tensioning system and it does require reaching into the back to put some cables together. So if you're fine with that, it's not that difficult, it's just something to keep in mind. more

It's also really ideal if your state requires that you have a tire chain inside your vehicle during the winter months.Now, before we talk about the tire chains, let's look at the box that comes in. And this is one of my favorite cases for tire case, just because it's so sturdy, it comes in this hard shell case. It also has this interesting hook and loop patch at the back. If you want to store it in your car, it attaches to your carpet and it won't slide around when you're driving around.Inside it also has some nice goodies that they add just to make the whole process a little bit easier. more

Now what's pretty cool about these tire chains are their rollers right over here, and those are there so that you have a smoother ride as compared to if you use other, maybe more heavy duty tire chains.Now these are meant for light weather conditions. So if you have light snow, or you just want to keep them in your truck for emergency purposes, that's perfectly fine. But if you have extreme weather conditions, like all day everyday, snow, sleet, hail, maybe get some heavier duty tire chains just to keep you safe.The oldest manual for our Tacoma here says to install them on the rear tires only. So we have them here on the driver's side, as well as the passenger's side. So if you have a truck like this, that's where you put them.Now, these tire chains did come in this bag here, and it was a struggle to take the tire chains out of this bag, as well as to put them back in afterwards. more

Also, it is going to be made of a low carbon steel, so it's going to resist against rust and corrosion. As you can see here, it's pretty symmetrical so they're going to wear away very, very evenly, so you don't have to worry about that. This isn't going to be the best ride quality, but compared to some of the more aggressive ones, it will be a little bit smoother. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Toyota Tacoma, we're gonna be test fitting the Titan Chain heavy duty, alloy snow tire chains, part number TC2221SHD. These are heavy duty chains designed for this heavier snow and ice areas. So this is not something like with the rollers or with the smaller D links that you usually see. That's for your light snow situations. So these are our square link with ladder pattern design. Now the ladder patterns gonna help out with more effective starts and stops in heavy snow and ice and the lengths here are gonna give you superior grip in the ice while you drive as well and with the square links, while they will wear evenly over time, they'll also give you maybe not the smoothest of rides, but a much smoother ride than other style chains, such as twist lengths. more

The ladder pattern means it's going to help with effective starts and stop in the inclement weather, and with the square link design here, that's going to give you good traction in the snow, and superior grip on the ice as you drive too, so that means you're going to using these in areas with snow and ice that happens on more of a regular occasion, as opposed to the rollers, which is more of a temporary use.These are also made from a manganese nickel alloy, which is going to be corrosion resistant, so these are going to last, and survive the test of time. But that also means they're going to be strong and durable. And with the square link design, that means that they're going to wear a little bit more evenly over time, compared to the twist link design that you may have. It's pretty much color coded where things need to go, And, instead of having to go behind the tire to make your connections, or anything like that, everything is done out on the front and wrapped around very easy.Now as you can see it's not going to make any contact with anything around the tire or interfere with any cables or anything like that. These are SAE Class S chains which means they work well with vehicles with limited wheel well clearance, but as you can see, it's not going to be an issue here. more

These Glacier roller snow tire chains are pretty much designed for the occasional use. You're talking about areas that don't get a lot of heavy snow and ice, but, more like light snow, but, can still make for an unpleasant commute home.They're very easy to install. They're made from a low carbon steel, so they're very tough and durable, but, not as tough as the link design chains you see with other models.The rollers work very well to give you excellent traction in light snow and the ladder pattern makes effective starts and stops a lot easier in those light snow situations. As with the rollers and ladder pattern design, it's also gonna help out with a smoother ride while you travel in these conditions as well.These chains will meet all Department of Transportation regulations in all states and they can work with other front or wheel drive Toyota Tacomas and incoming on to the inside of the tire, you can see it's not gonna interfere with anything, and it's not even really remotely close to anything on the backside of the tire either.Today we're working with tire size 24575R16. If you put these chains on, and they don't fit properly, just double check the size and go to our website and find the proper fit.I went ahead and laid the chains out in front of the tire like you see here to make sure there's no kinks in the lines or anything before we install them and also to make sure it's gonna go on the right side. more
